My Story
My Story – A Calling, Not Just a Career
My journey as an educational psychologist is deeply rooted in personal experience. Growing up in KwaMthethwa, a rural village near Empangeni, I witnessed the emotional and educational struggles faced by children in under-resourced communities—struggles often overlooked or misunderstood. From learners dropping out due to undiagnosed learning difficulties to families battling the emotional effects of trauma and poverty, I saw the urgent need for compassionate, informed, and culturally sensitive psychological care.
This passion led me to pursue a Bachelor of Psychology degree at the University of Zululand, followed by a Master’s in Educational Psychology, where I specialized in psychoeducational assessments, therapy for children and adolescents, and support for families navigating academic or behavioural challenges.
